Hey there! The past few weeks have pretty much been focused on my baby niece and my getting in shape so not too much is new. I have been successfully walking to work at least 3 days a week now. I've devoted myself to walking every day that I don't need to have my car now and it's been going along swimmingly. I keep meaning to bring my camera so I can post some pics of my walks. There is some pretty awesome architecture and just cute little houses and cafes and stuff downtown here.
Though a co-worker recently told me about a news story she heard a few weeks ago about a woman almost getting kidnapped by a few guys in their car on 8th street when she was walking home, which happens to be a street I frequently walk on. I tried to "google it" though and couldn't find the story anywhere. Guess I need to be extra cautious and get some pepper spray or take some self defense classes or something. Even scarier, I was stopped by a man in a car asking for directions just the other day. I did make sure to stay far away from his car though and am usually pretty aware of my surroundings in general. Yes, just another reason everyone should let their kids watch horror movies at a young age...I might have to write a book on this parenting style when I have kids of my own, haha. Fear is a powerful motivator.
I also took my first Zumba class this weekend and loved it! It is so much fun and completely silly and ridiculous. I am not coordinated for aerobics and dancing whatsoever but I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to take another class. I get 24 more with the LivingSocial deal I got and then when I signed up on Exotica in Motions (the studio is actually known for it's pole dance fitness classes) online reservation system I got another free Zumba class and a free Anti-Gravity Yoga class as well. I am going to try the yoga one this Friday. It sounds interesting. Though they are $25 a class normally so it'll definitely be a one time deal. I have been doing regular yoga again a couple times a week too though. I am still trying to find a "cheap" yoga place. I don't understand why it costs so much. Zumba is regularly $4-$5 a class so I can actually keep that one up after my deal ends, which is great. Group fitness at a decent price, finally!
