The (Love) Festival Aftermath

I got back from my Washington trip earlier this week and, since then, I've pretty much felt like complete hell. But luckily it was all worth while and I can't wait to tell you all about it!

It started off on a sour note when I found out my flight was delayed for three hours literally about two minutes after Courtney dropped me off at the airport. This made it so I didn't end up getting to my cousin, Melissa's house in Bothell until after midnight that night. Luckily her husband, Adrian, waited up for me and Melissa had asked to be woken up so we all ended up hanging out til about 4am that night. It was great to catch up a bit.

Thursday morning, I woke up, went to have breakfast with my Aunt and Uncle in Woodenville and then drove down to Puyallup to stay with my Uncle Chris and his wife Michelle and see my Grandparents who've recently moved into an assisted living facility about 5 minutes away from my Uncle's. Super convenient. We caught a Rainier's game that night and I got to get some delicious seafood for dinner (pretty much all I eat when I'm by the water). I had breakfast with my Grandparents in the morning and then it was off to Sasquatch!

The gorgeous Gorge

After trying to locate each other in the campgrounds at the Gorge (not an easy feat it turns out), I finally caught up with Chris and Alex, my concert/camping buddies for the next four days. From then on it was a whirlwind of music, laughter, tears, food, alcohol, water, hippie kids, Canadians, glow sticks, breathtaking views and a downright love-fest.

Words cannot begin to explain what goes on at these festivals but it was my first, and it certainly won't be my last. I witnessed some of the coolest things I have ever seen. One being a huge full on dance party at 2pm in the afternoon in the Sasquatch stage pit while Chromeo played. Every single person was dancing, I kid you not. Another being an adorable young man, trying to dance with a girl who didn't want to dance (during The Head and The Heart's set) so another guy jumps up and starts dancing, then another, until soon, there is an entire line of people linked and swaying across the entire top section of the grass. Amazing. Also, I can't recall which band was even playing but a guy proposed onstage to his girlfriend. She said yes of course.

Bands I recall seeing and enjoying in this blur (I know there were AT LEAST 35) include: The Drums, Fitz and the Tantrums, MSTRKRFT, Yeasayer, Chromeo, The Head and the Heart, Aloe Blacc, Jenny and Johnny, Ratatat, Foster the People, Robyn, Bassnectar, The Foo Fighters, Death from Above 1979, Local Natives, Wolf Parade, Sleigh Bells, Tokyo Police Club, Beach House, !!!, The Cold War Kids, Gayngs, Noah and the Whale, Rodrigo y Gabriella (it rained!), and Dearhunter.

  1. You didn't mention nudity... and I thought for sure you'd see some. Did you not, or did you just forget to post about it? Haha.
